Our heritage
Asahi-lite was founded in 1980 in Sabae, Fukui, known across Japan as めがねのまち, “the town of eyeglasses”. From the start the company focused on high-index plastic lenses, and was the first in the world to introduce 1.60, 1.67 and 1.74 index lenses.
Today Asahi-lite lenses reach more than 50 countries through official brand partners, including Advance Lens Trading in Malaysia.

What each technology does for you
Asahi-lite uses the same technology names across every design. Here is what each one does, and which designs include it.
Controls how quickly blur builds up at the sides of the lens, not only how much there is. Vision stays steady as you move your eyes or head, without the “swim” or sway some progressive wearers feel.
Pushes unwanted blur out of the part of the lens you actually use, based on the real shape of your frame. You get wider clear zones and can keep your head in a more comfortable position.
Balances the blur on the nose side and the temple side of the lens. Both eyes see similar images when you look sideways, so side vision is sharper and more natural.
Calculates the lens for how your frame actually sits on your face, using six fitting measurements taken by your optician. Vision stays clear and natural in any frame, with a wider field to the sides.
Shapes the reading area for phones and tablets: full reading power covers a taller zone and the change from near to far is smoother. Screens are easy to read with a relaxed head and neck.
Sizes the corridor between distance and reading, from 14 to 20 mm, to fit your frame and fitting height. All vision zones fit inside your frame, including smaller frames.
Places the reading zone for each wearer, setting how far it sits towards the nose in very fine steps. Your eyes meet the reading zone naturally for comfortable close-up vision.
Adds a small extra plus power (+0.60, +0.80 or +1.10) in the lower part of a single vision lens. It takes some focusing work off your eyes during long phone and screen sessions, so they feel less tired.
Uses ray tracing to reduce the blur that appears when you look through the outer part of a single vision lens. Vision stays sharp across the whole lens, not just in the centre.
Optional frame-blending add-on for Signature, Premier, Refresh and Focus. The lens is calculated for your real frame shape and blended outside it, so plus lenses are thinner, lighter and neater, with the frame shape centred. Prescription lenses only; frame shape needed.
Free-form, computer-controlled surfacing of the back of each single vision lens, made to your exact prescription. You get precise optics, centred correctly for your eyes, and easy adaptation.

Every Asahi-lite lens comes with an anti-reflective coating. Platinum Green is included; for prescription lenses choose Platinum Blue for screens or Platinum Drive for the road.

Platinum Blue and Platinum Drive are optional upgrades for prescription (Rx) lenses in any design, index and lens option, including NuPolar® polarised. They are not available for stock lenses. Platinum Blue works at the lens surface; the blue-light filter option is built into the lens material. Ask your optician which coating suits you.

Cylinder to −4.00 · addition +0.75 to +4.00 · diameter 70 mm · made to order. Higher index means a thinner lens for stronger prescriptions. Outside this range, ask your optician.
Filters part of the high-energy blue-violet light from screens and LED lighting, and blocks UV. A comfortable choice for long days on phones and computers.
Clear indoors and darkens automatically in sunlight, so one pair works inside and out. Transitions® Gen S, or XTRActive® grey in 1.50, 1.60 and 1.67; 1.56 in grey or brown. Also available with blue-light filter.
Cuts reflected glare from roads, water and glass for sharper, more relaxed vision outdoors. Available in 1.50, 1.60 and 1.67. NuPolar® polarised lenses can take all three Platinum coatings.
